CAD/CAM Technician
Job Description:
- Digital Design: Using CAD software to design dental prosthetics, including crowns, bridges, veneers, implants, and other restorations based on prescriptions, digital scans, or impressions.
- Modeling and Customization: Creating virtual 3D models and customizing designs to match patients’ specific anatomical structures, ensuring proper fit and functionality.
- CAM Operations: Generating CAM instructions to produce dental prosthetics through milling, 3D printing, or other manufacturing processes based on the digital designs.
- Equipment Operation: Operating and maintaining CAD/CAM equipment such as scanners, milling machines, 3D printers, and other digital manufacturing tools.
- Quality Control: Inspecting the fabricated dental products for accuracy, fit, and adherence to specifications before finalizing and sending them to the dental office for placement.
- Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with dental professionals, including dentists and dental laboratory technicians, to understand requirements and ensure accurate digital designs.
Job Requirements:
- Education and Training: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Advanced training or certification in CAD/CAM technology, digital dentistry, or a related field is highly beneficial.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in CAD software programs specifically used in dentistry (e.g., Exocad, 3Shape, Dental Wings) and familiarity with CAM systems for manufacturing.
- Digital Skills: Ability to work with digital impressions, 3D modeling, and manipulating digital images to create precise dental designs.
- Understanding of Dental Anatomy: Knowledge of dental anatomy and occlusion to ensure accurate digital design and proper fit of prosthetics.
- Attention to Detail: Precision and attention to detail are critical for creating accurate and functional dental prosthetics.
- Adaptability and Learning: Willingness to adapt to new software updates, technological advancements, and techniques in the field of CAD/CAM dentistry.
- Communication and Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with dental professionals and technicians, understanding their needs and translating them into digital designs.
