Denture Pour Technician
Job Description:
- Impression Analysis: Reviewing and assessing impressions taken by dental professionals to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Material Preparation: Mixing dental stone or other suitable materials according to specifications for pouring molds.
- Pouring Molds: Pouring the prepared material into the impressions and ensuring it settles without air bubbles or imperfections.
- Model Trimming: Trimming excess material to create accurate and usable models of patients’ oral structures.
- Quality Control: Inspecting the poured molds for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to specific requirements before further fabrication stages.
Job Requirements:
- Education and Training: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Formal education in dental laboratory technology through vocational schools, community colleges, or specialized dental technology programs is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in working with dental impressions and pouring materials to create accurate molds. Familiarity with various dental stone types and their properties.
- Attention to Detail: Precision and attention to detail are crucial to ensure the quality and accuracy of poured molds.
- Manual Dexterity: Skill in handling dental materials and tools to pour molds and trim excess material accurately.
- Adherence to Safety and Regulations: Knowledge of safety protocols, infection control, and compliance with industry standards and regulations regarding dental laboratory practices.
- Communication and Collaboration: Ability to understand instructions from dental professionals and work collaboratively within a team in the dental laboratory setting.
- Experience: Practical experience or apprenticeships in a dental laboratory setting can be beneficial for gaining hands-on skills and knowledge in denture pouring techniques.
