Denture Setup Technician
Job Description:
- Denture Fabrication: Constructing dentures by following prescriptions, molds, and instructions provided by dentists or prosthodontists.
- Model Preparation: Creating accurate plaster or digital models of patients’ mouths to build dentures on.
- Waxing and Carving: Using wax to shape the base and tooth arrangement according to the specifications.
- Artificial Tooth Placement: Attaching artificial teeth to the denture base with precision and attention to natural appearance.
- Adjustments and Polishing: Making necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit, function, and aesthetics. Polishing the dentures for a smooth finish.
- Repair and Maintenance: Repairing damaged or broken dentures and performing routine maintenance as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Education and Training: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in dental laboratory techniques, including model preparation, waxing, carving, tooth arrangement, and polishing. Familiarity with dental materials and equipment.
- Attention to Detail: Precision and attention to detail are crucial to create dentures that fit comfortably and look natural.
- Communication and Collaboration: Ability to interpret dental prescriptions accurately and work closely with dentists, prosthodontists, and other dental professionals to meet patients’ needs.
- Manual Dexterity: Skilled in working with small tools and delicate materials to craft dentures with fine detail.
- Adherence to Safety and Regulations: Knowledge of safety protocols, infection control, and compliance with industry standards and regulations regarding dental laboratory practices.
- Experience: Practical experience or apprenticeships in a dental laboratory setting can be beneficial for gaining hands-on skills and knowledge in denture setup.
